aaah, that nicely covers the aftertaste of the Guinness. Muuuch better.
It’s two am and
persephone_20 and I just got back from the local pub. Man, I’m gonna miss that place. It’s been twice a week since I got here. Sigh. Anyway, tonight was singers and songwriters night where a bunch of musicians sit around in a circle with their instruments (omgcrushonviolinistdude!) and sing their songs and play their music. And every now and then someone from the crowd will get up and join the circle and sing something.
Tonight, on of those people was me.
Man, I was so nervous! Like, beyond nervous, teeth chattering, legs weak! So very pathetic, I know. But I knew that this was my last night there, and if I didn’t get up and sing I was going to regret not doing it forever.
So I sung Pippin’s song from the Steward of Gondor. And I missed so many of the notes and it was so…nerve-wracking! That knowing that everyone can hear where you slip up. Meep! But the guy next to me said ‘that was absolutely beautiful’ and I made my excuses and ran away. When I ‘slinked back to the darkness’ Persephone said, “You did much better than I thought you would. You totally did it justice.”
Proudness. Before me she sung Into The West too. Sounded so good! (Even if she did forget the words in the second verse. But, hey, she only learnt the song about four days ago!) Don’t try and tell me this girl isn’t a LotR fan! That excuse doesn’t work when you’ve sat and sung Into The West in the middle of a pub with everyone listening attentively.
So, while I’ll never become some superstar in the singing arena, I’m totally glad I did it.
